Day by Day Itinerary

One of our staffs will come pick you up at the airport and help with your trip to the hotel. If you feel like touring the city, you can visit some sites near your hotel. There is always some kind of historical or cultural sites nearby because you’re in the city of temples. We’ve kept the exploring to a minimum for the first day since you’ll already be tired from the flight. For dinner, you can try the famous Nepali Dal Bhat.

The entire day you’ll explore some of the most visited tourist attractions of the capital. Swayambhunath and Boudhanath Stupas are both huge dome shaped buildings with Buddha’s eyes on top of the dome. The stupas are visited by both Buddhist and Hindu worshippers. These stupas are symbols of enlightenment. Boudhanath is famous among Tibetans and is known to entomb the remains of the Kassapa Buddha. Swayambhunath is located on a hilltop from where you can get a panoramic view of the city.

Next stop is Pashupatinath temple which has the largest temple complex of all the Hindu temples in Nepal. It is the oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. The temple complex sits along the banks of the Bagmati River and features ghats or steps where Hindu cremation ceremonies are performed. Observing these ceremonies offers a unique cultural experience.

Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of three Durbar Squares situated in the valley. The other two are located in Patan and Bhaktapur. These palaces are where the royal families who ruled Nepal lived over the years. The squares are famous for their cultural, historical, and architectural significance. The museum in the complex houses a wide collection of artifacts, royal regalia, artworks, and historical exhibits.

Nagarkot is a 1 hour drive from Kathmandu. Nagarkot is a starting or finishing point for many hiking and trekking routes. If you’re an adventure enthusiast, you can explore the trails leading to nearby settlements, forests, and viewpoints. Nagarkot also offers a wide range of outdoor activities like bird-watching, mountain-biking, and paragliding. Be sure to get the sunrise view of the Himalayas in the morning.

After a delicious breakfast at Nagarkot, we’ll take the trip back and make a stop at Bhaktapur. Two UNESCO World Heritage Sites are in Bhaktapur; Changu Narayan Temple and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The temple is located on a hilltop surrounded by a forest of Champak trees and is the oldest temple of Nepal. The temple is dedicated to Vishnu and is idolized by Hindus. Bhaktapur Durbar Square reflects Newari Architecture and is a palace where the Malla Kings lived. The buildings have intricate carvings and inscriptions making it historically significant.

After touring Bhaktapur, we’ll go to Patan Durbar Square and museum located at the center of the city of Lalitpur. The museum showcases artifacts, royal regalia, and artwork of the Shah and Malla dynasty. In the evening, you’ll spend the night at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Our journey has come to an end. Kathmandu is rich in culture so if you’ve got time there are still many sites you can visit. Thamel area is perfect for souvenir shopping. After lunch depending on your ticket back home, our staff will drop you off at the airport. Be sure to get there at least two hours before your flight time.
